Hi everyone!
Welcome to Miss Carroll's online Performing Arts Wiki. Here you can discover what children have been doing in classes, what performances are coming up at assembly and other Performing Arts hints. Don't forget to check out the photos also!
Thanks for everyone for making me feel so welcome at the start of the year and a HUGE thank-you to the children who gave up their lunchtimes to help me clean, tidy and set up the music room. We now have a bright, colourful and creative space to work in to inspire budding musicians, actors and dancers.
Thanks!
Miss Carroll

BAND
This year the response for new Band players was unbelievable! All members went through the audition process to become a member, however, due to everyone's enthusiasm everyone became a member. (A special thanks to Tasha and Bonnie for helping with auditions) We now take up a large section of the front of assembly - and don't they sound fantastic playing the National Anthem.
Thanks to the wonderful F.O.S, we now have brilliant new PURPLE music stands which make us look just that little more professional!
The Band is currently working on learning "I'm a Believer" and will start "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" soon. The Band members have requester to play the popular Jason Mraz song "I'm Yours" and "I feel good" so you will be hearing them soon.
This year I am encouraging ALL band members to become more confident when reading music. I have given children a copy of how to read music and children should be coming home with copies of their Band music to rehearse at home. Please send them to get these from the music room if they don't have these.
The Band members are also learning about Band etiquet. How to hold instruments, watch the conductor, count in music, how to behave at assembly and in rehearsals. Please encourage your children to come to band with a positive attitude and good listening skills. The more time we spend on rehearsing music, the more songs we can perform.
Keep up the fantastic work Band!
CHOIRBoth our Senior choir and 3 / 4 choir this year are learning about how to find correct pitch, listen to each other, sing a variety of song styles, how to have correct choir stance and how to work as a team. Both Choirs performed at the Fete and should be proud of their efforts this year.
Senior choir this year.
Our Senior Choir has been fantastic this year. As a group they sound great and have performed 'Mustang Sally' 'Rubbish Free Lunch' 'Absolutley Everybody' and are working on a variety of new songs. The Senior Choir will sing 1 or 2 special songs in the Senior Musical. Unfortunately, due to our rehearsal time changing to recess we have lost a few members, however, the remaining members are dedicated which is brilliant!
3 / 4 choir this year.
Our amazing 50 member 3 / 4 Choir has been absolutely amazing this year. They listen well in rehearsals, love to perform and sound good enough to record. I have never had such a large, dedicated, talented choir before. They have performed 'Rubbish Free Lunch' Blue Moon / Do you Wanna Dance' and Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.
My aim is to organise a Choir excursion to a Retirement home in Term 3 for both Choirs - stay tuned!
YEAR 4 RECORDERYEAR 4 RECORDER THIS SEMESTER
After just ONE rehearsal the Year 4 recorder group performed at assembly. Each week they eagerly learn new songs, are improving their ability to read music, listen to each other, perform in a group and generally improve their musicianship skills. In Term 4 I will invite my Year 4 recorder members to join the band so they are ready for next year.

ROCK BAND With MISS SCARLET:
This year Miss Scarlet has continued running 2 rock bands. The 5 and 6's auditioned and 2 talented Rock Bands have immerged. Both bands have learnt a few songs and have the opportunity to perform at assembly. We may organise a lunchtime Rock concert to raise money for a charity later in the year.
SENIOR MUSICALSHONKY WORLD TRAVEL:
The Seniors have started working on this years Senior musical in Music classes. Shonky World Tours is about a group of tourists from all different nationalities who travel around the world with a very dodgy tour company. Many disasters happen along their journey around the world. Children have shown off their modelling skills for our Paris runway, have discovered their grades country and are looking at the scripts. Auditions for any eager Senior student will be held at lunchtime in the last 2 weeks of term 2 .
Any parents willing to help with choreography, costumes, props etc would be much appreciated:)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
We had 79 children audition out of 200 senior students which was amazing. Congratulations to everyone who got a part in Shonky World Travel and I am pleased to say all children who auditioned will recieve some sort of extra 'cameo' role as well as their grade chorus part. I was so proud of ervyone who auditioned and the effort put in was brilliant. Well done.
